Bitcoin Whales Accumulate Large Amounts as Small Investors Cut Exposure
Bitcoin whales have been accumulating large amounts of BTC after a security flaw was discovered in Coldcard hardware wallets. According to on-chain analytics firm Santiment, wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC accumulated an additional 19,610 BTC after the incident.
This trend coincided with the disclosure of a defect in Coldcard wallets' random number generation. The loss linked to the flaw was estimated at more than 1,360 BTC, or about $87 million.
Santiment reported that confidence in hardware wallets has been shaken, prompting small investors to reduce their holdings. Large wallets are absorbing the selling from smaller holders, buying up the excess supply.
The accumulation of large amounts of BTC by whales is a significant development in the Bitcoin market. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue and what implications it may have for the price of BTC.
