Bitcoin Whales Dive Back In, Buying $2.75 Billion Worth of Coins

Large bitcoin holders have made a significant turnaround in their buying habits after months of selling. According to data from CryptoQuant, these 'whales' and smaller investors known as 'dolphins' bought around 43,000 coins over the past 60 days, worth approximately $2.75 billion at current prices.

This renewed interest in bitcoin coincided with a price increase, with the coin trading around $60,000. Previously, the price had dropped by about 50% from its October high, leading to a decline in retail investors and lower participation in the market.

While this buying activity could signal that the market has hit bottom and is poised for a rebound, there are concerns about the loss of retail investors and lower participation. August spot volumes were the lowest for the month since August 2021, according to reports.
