Bitcoin's $1 Million Price Target Faces Reality Check
Bitcoin's $1 million price target has gained traction among investors and analysts, with firms like ARK Invest, Bernstein, VanEck, and MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor backing the ambitious forecast.
The most recent bull case relies on Bitcoin capturing a larger share of the global store-of-value market, estimated at around $121 trillion. Currently, gold dominates this market with a significant lead over Bitcoin, which holds approximately 4% of it.
To justify a $1 million price tag, analysts suggest that Bitcoin would need to capture around 17% of the addressable market, representing a more than fourfold increase in relative share. This is an ambitious goal, given Bitcoin's current trading price near $64,000 and the substantial growth required to reach such targets.
ARK Invest has taken a high-end approach with their projection of a $1.5 million price tag by 2030, while Bernstein is more conservative in its near-term target of $150,000, keeping $1 million as a long-term directional goal rather than a hard forecast.
