Bitcoin's $79K Surge Sparks Debate Over Bottom Confirmation
Bitcoin's recent surge to $79K has left investors wondering whether it confirms a bottom or signals another crash is coming. Michael Terpin, CEO of Transform Ventures and founder of BitAngels, believes there's an 80% probability that the bear market has ended.
However, Terpin warns that Bitcoin could retrace towards $70K or even the $60Ks unless it secures a stronger weekly close. He attributes this volatility to the four-seasons framework for Bitcoin, which takes into account halvings, supply shocks, fear and greed, and recurring periods of expansion and capitulation.
Terpin's views on Bitcoin's potential supercycle were echoed by Tom Lee, who argues that Ethereum remains undervalued as tokenization and AI agents push more financial activity onto crypto rails. Meanwhile, Bitwise is introducing automated token portfolios, bringing institutionally designed baskets of tokenized stocks into crypto wallets through Coinbase and Glider.
Not all experts agree on the timing or trajectory of Bitcoin's recovery. Charles Edwards believes that a concrete policy, liquidity, or quantum-security catalyst is needed to decisively break its all-time high, while David Duong sees seller exhaustion, returning ETF inflows, and a supportive macro backdrop setting up Bitcoin for a sustained Q4 rally.
Despite the uncertainty, Figure's shift from specialty lender to blockchain-powered marketplace is driving rapid volume growth, stronger margins, and a potential Wall Street reappraisal. Meanwhile, Solana network activity is rising, but whether that utility will translate into SOL's price remains an open question.
