Bitcoin's $80K Stalemate: Short Build-Up Fuels Rally vs Correction Debate

Bitcoin's price action has been stuck below $80,000 for some time now, and derivative market data suggests that this consolidation could be setting up either a deeper pullback or a sharp rally.

Cumulative volume delta readings across major exchanges show a build-up in short positioning, which is fueling debate over whether the next move favors sellers or a squeeze higher.

Binance CVD has retracted to $12.6 billion, while Bybit has dropped to negative $575 million. OKX sits at negative $125 million, and Deribit holds a positive 425 million dollars. Binance carries the heaviest weight given its trading volume.

The September seasonal pattern adds another layer of complexity to this situation, as Bitcoin has never posted a green September immediately after a green August.
