Bitcoin's Accumulation Phase Confirmed by Benjamin Cowen's Thesis

Crypto analyst Benjamin Cowen made headlines earlier this year when he predicted that Bitcoin (BTC) would bottom in the back half of 2026 and enter an accumulation phase. At the time, the asset's price was grinding lower through the spring, drawing skepticism from some who questioned his call to sit out Bitcoin entirely.

However, Cowen's thesis has now moved past its call stage and into confirmation, with Bitcoin's recent rally erasing fears of a further low in the minds of most. The accumulation phase he flagged on July 1 is indeed underway, and it appears that price action is following his forecast.

Cowan notes that there is still a 'decent chance' of one more leg down in the fourth quarter, with a floor near $44,000 if prior midterm years repeat. This would be in line with patterns seen in 2014, 2018, and 2022, where Bitcoin ground through a rough first half before finding its footing later in the year.

Cowan has put a rough timeline on this scenario too, pointing to a window that stretches into late October. However, he does not treat the Q4 scenario as make-or-break for his outlook, framing the risk as a possible dip to watch for rather than a condition his broader thesis depends on.
