Bitcoin's BIP-110 Fork Falters Amid Limited Miner Support
A minority fork of Bitcoin has emerged following the activation attempt of BIP-110. Enforcing nodes rejected block 961,632 after it failed to signal support for the proposal.
The split began on August 9, with the main chain at block 961,654 and the enforcing branch at 961,633, leaving a 21-block gap between the two branches.
Only 51 of the previous 2,016 blocks signaled BIP-110 support, equal to just 2.53% miner backing. The proposal had previously failed to meet its early threshold for signaling, with 1,109 blocks needed out of 2,016 to activate the mandatory-signaling requirement.
The minority fork lacks automatic replay protection, creating operational risks for BTC holders who move coins between the two branches.
