Bitcoin's Bottoming Out: Historical Evidence Points to a Strong Recovery
The history of Bitcoin's price fluctuations is marked by sharp drops and unexpected rallies. The cryptocurrency has experienced several major crashes, including a 94% decline in 2011, an 83% drop in 2018, and a 76% decline in 2022.
However, the magnitude of these declines has been shrinking over time, suggesting that Bitcoin may have already bottomed out. As of August 13, its trading price was $63,380 per coin, which is 54% below its all-time high reached in 2025.
On the other hand, investors keep returning to Bitcoin due to its record of breaking new ground and delivering unexpectedly strong performance. For example, after falling to $16,000 by the end of 2022, Bitcoin surged by 156% in 2023 and another 121% in 2024.
According to historical data, each cycle features three exceptionally strong years followed by a weaker one. Given that Bitcoin reached an all-time high in 2025 and is nearing the completion of its typical cycle, a further bull run in 2026 seems unlikely.
