Bitcoin's Breakeven Threshold Looms as Long Positions Reach Record High
Bitcoin's price is hovering near $65,200 as traders watch for a crucial milestone: short-term holders reaching breakeven. The 30-day Short-Term Holder SOPR metric has climbed to 0.997, just below the neutral level of 1.0. This means that short-term holders are currently selling at a slight loss rather than a gain.
This is not the first time the metric has approached breakeven this year; it previously did so in January and May, only to slip back down again without reaching profitability. The question now is whether this latest attempt will hold or if it will follow the same pattern.
The record-high long positions in Bitcoin futures, worth $23.4 billion, add a layer of complexity to the situation. These longs account for about 57.62% of all open futures positions and could lead to rapid liquidations if prices fall sharply.
