Bitcoin's Correlation with Gold Surges Amid Rising Public Debt Concerns

Bitcoin's price behavior has shifted in recent months, with its correlation to gold reaching one of its highest levels since the pandemic in 2020. According to data from Bitwise Asset Management and Bloomberg, Bitcoin's 90-day moving average correlation with gold has risen to approximately +0.50.

This is more than double the level at the beginning of the year and marks a significant shift in how investors are viewing Bitcoin. The correlation between Bitcoin and technology stocks, on the other hand, has weakened significantly, falling to its lowest level in the past year.

The data suggests that investors are increasingly treating Bitcoin as an alternative store of value, rather than just a risky technology asset. This is particularly evident given the recent announcement by the US Treasury Department to increase the limit for long-term bond repurchases from $2 billion to $4 billion per transaction.
