Bitcoin's Energy Efficiency Proves It Can Be a Monetary Foundation for AI Economy
CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju believes that Bitcoin (BTC) serves as the monetary foundation for an artificial intelligence-driven economy. He argues that BTC's proof-of-work mechanism allows it to accurately measure energy value, something traditional commodities like gold cannot replicate.
Ju stated on X that 'energy is money,' and Bitcoin precisely measures its value. Gold embeds energy but cannot be measured accurately due to its non-digital nature.
The comments from Ju were accompanied by an analysis from Hashed CEO Simon Kim, who posits that the decade-old criticism of Bitcoin mining being wasteful is being overcome by the AI data center buildout. Kim highlighted capital flows as evidence, mentioning Abu Dhabi's Mubadala sovereign wealth fund allocating $437 million to BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF in Q4 2024.
Kim also cited Mubadala's involvement with Crusoe Energy, a company that was valued above $10 billion after receiving a $1.375 billion investment in its Series E round, which Kim co-led in October 2025. Crusoe subsequently announced plans to divest its Bitcoin mining division to focus on AI infrastructure.
