Bitcoin's Genesis Block Puzzle Entices Solvers With $111 Jackpot
A new puzzle related to Bitcoin's Genesis Block has gained attention from blockchain analysts and the general public. The puzzle was created on August 23, 2026, using information contained in the Genesis Block, which was mined by Satoshi Nakamoto on January 3, 2009.
The puzzle creator embedded a multisig script in human-readable text within Bitcoin Block 963,629. He shared clues with Galaxy Research, stating that the witness script is a multisig and two keys are required, both derived independently from the Genesis field.
Galaxy Head of Research Alex Thorn has been working on solving the puzzle, which currently has a jackpot of 142,779 sats (approximately $111). Thorn shared his progress in a recent Twitter post, highlighting that he had ruled out over 19.3 billion candidate scripts.
