Bitcoin's Growth Slows as It Settles into Digital Gold
Bitcoin's growth has slowed down significantly over the past few years, according to Dr. Raka Pradipta, M.I.Kom. In a recent interview with Detik Finance, he noted that while Bitcoin's price has increased by nearly 10,000% over the past decade, its annual growth rate has decreased dramatically.
The main challenge for Bitcoin is its massive market capitalization of around $1.3 trillion, which makes it increasingly difficult to expand its value. To put this into perspective, moving from $1 billion to $10 billion is relatively easy compared to scaling from $1 trillion to $10 trillion, which would be equivalent to the global economy's annual GDP if Bitcoin were to achieve similar gains again.
Dr. Pradipta believes that Bitcoin's recent slowdown in growth signals a shift in market expectations for the digital currency. It is no longer seen as an investment vehicle with unlimited potential but rather as a store of value, akin to gold. Many investors now view Bitcoin as an anti-inflation asset, which provides fundamental support for its price over time.
