Bitcoin's Interest Rate Sensitivity Set to Weaken: Bitwise CIO Predicts

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan predicts that Bitcoin's sensitivity to US interest rates will weaken over the next five years. In a recent post on X, Hougan noted that benchmark interest rates have historically had a significant impact on Bitcoin prices since its launch.

However, Hougan argues that the magnitude of rate adjustments has gradually narrowed in recent years. He cited CME's expectation that benchmark interest rates will move by about 50 basis points over the next year, and suggested that a Kevin Warsh-led Federal Reserve would likely make more finely calibrated rate adjustments.

Hougan emphasized that benchmark interest rates will remain an important variable for Bitcoin prices, but their influence is expected to diminish as other factors gain importance. As the scale of rate moves shrinks, their impact on Bitcoin should also fade, leaving room for other factors to play a bigger role.
