Bitcoin's Market Conditions Improve, But Sustainable Recovery Remains Elusive
Bitcoin's market conditions have improved, leading to a decline in unrealized losses among holders. The unrealized loss ratio dropped below 40%, a threshold often associated with deep stress in the market. According to CryptoQuant, this decline indicates fewer investors are currently holding Bitcoin at a loss.
However, while the indicator has fallen from its peak of 42.2% in late June, it rebounded slightly in mid-July, suggesting that selling pressure has not entirely dissipated. Historical cycles suggest that the first move below 40% rarely confirms a lasting recovery, instead often preceding prolonged consolidation.
The Mayer-Puell Valuation Composite also dropped below its key threshold of 20 in early July, reaching a reading of 15.77 for the third time since February. This indicates an extended period of accumulation and possible market bottoms. The indicator has since rebounded to around 25.4, showing that valuation pressure has eased.
On-chain data also points towards easing pressure, with the Mayer-Puell Composite, MVRV, SOPR, and unrealized loss metrics all suggesting a gradual emergence from the most stressed phase. However, these positive trends represent late-stage consolidation phases rather than a confirmed growth phase. For a sustainable increase in price, increasing realized market capitalization, continued outflows from exchanges, and steady ETF inflows are needed.
