Bitcoin's Mixed Signals Leave Traders Divided Over Market Trajectory
Bitcoin's price action is sending mixed signals after hitting $80,000 as traders disagree over market trajectory. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on various timeframes has added to the debate.
The weekly RSI for Bitcoin reached 58.3, echoing a bullish divergence that accompanied the end of the 2022 bear market. This is similar to what happened in mid-2022, around six months before the end of the last bear market. Throughout 2026, a similar pattern emerged.
On daily time frames, RSI values reached their most 'overbought' since November 2024 near 83. Market participants are split over the implications of this reading, with some seeing it as a warning sign of an imminent reversal and others pointing to historical patterns where uptrends have been accompanied by multiple 'overbought' periods.
The Stochastic RSI indicator also printed a key crossover but avoided copying previous zero-level bear-market lows. This has sparked debate over whether the current rebound will endure, with some seeing it as a sign of a new phase in the cycle.
