Bitcoin's New Role: Foundation of Digital Financial System
Strategy chairman Michael Saylor has outlined a vision for Bitcoin that goes beyond its use as a corporate treasury asset. In a framework he calls the Digital Finance Stack, Bitcoin is positioned as the foundation of a broader digital financial system.
The stack classifies digital assets along a monetary spectrum, with Bitcoin at one end as 'Digital Capital,' followed by Strategy's STRC preferred stock as 'Digital Credit,' the SR-strcUSX token as 'Digital Money,' and Tether's USDT as 'Digital Currency.'
Saylor draws an analogy to crude oil, arguing that civilization extracts more utility from refining it into gasoline, jet fuel, plastics, and lubricants than from using the raw material itself. Similarly, Bitcoin should be seen not merely as a means of payment, but as a fundamental layer of digital capital.
