Bitcoin's Next Decade: Can It Hit $1 Million?
Bitcoin's price has been declining since setting a new all-time high last October, but analysts remain optimistic about its future value. Several prominent figures in crypto and traditional finance expect Bitcoin to reach $1 million within the next decade.
Michael Saylor predicts that Bitcoin will hit $1 million before this decade ends, assuming it gains about 30% every year for the next twenty years. Cathie Wood estimates that global fund managers will eventually put 2.5% of the $200 trillion they oversee into Bitcoin, lifting its market cap to $16 trillion by 2030 and making each coin worth around $761,000.
The research house Bernstein also expects the Bitcoin price to reach $1 million by 2033, while Matt Hougan believes it will take about ten years. To hit seven figures, Bitcoin would need to capture 17% of a projected $121 trillion store-of-value market and own more than half of everything the world stores value in.
Bitcoin's own record shows that it has compounded at roughly 60% a year over the past decade, but the last five years have delivered only about 7% a year. Based on this history, Bitcoin could hit $1 million within ten years, but if the next five years look anything like the last five, it may be difficult for BTC to pull off the seven-figure dream.
