Bitcoin's Next Move: Can It Clear the $80,000 Barrier and Reach $90,000?
Bitcoin's price is approaching the crucial $80,000 mark once again. The cryptocurrency was trading near the upper-$77,000 range on Monday but still below both the psychological $80,000 mark and its recent three-month high near $82,000.
This makes the next breakout attempt unusually important as Bitcoin has already tested $80,000 this month but failed to hold due to rate-hike expectations returning. According to market analysis, there is significant supply of BTC between roughly $81,000 and $86,000 where holders who bought higher may use a recovery to sell.
Scenario analysis suggests that if Bitcoin clears the $80,000 level, it would face its first challenge in holding that level and pushing through the heavier supply sitting above it. If successful, this would pave the way for a breakout above $86,000, making $90,000 a more realistic target.
However, institutional demand has turned less reliable as Bitcoin ETFs pulled in nearly $1 billion in weekly inflows earlier this month but then recorded roughly $283 million in daily outflows by September 10. This means the next $80,000 breakout may need to happen without strong ETF support seen earlier in September.
Technical support sits around the mid-$70,000s with the 200-day EMA close to the low-$73,000 area, leaving the setup straightforward: above $80K, watch $82K, $86K; above $86K, $90K becomes realistic; below $75K, risk shifts toward roughly $73K.
