Bitcoin's Path to Global Reserve Status Gains Momentum with Strategy's Updated Investor Guide
Strategy Inc., led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has updated its Bitcoin investor guide to make the case for BTC as a global reserve asset. The company's revised framework emphasizes the potential of Bitcoin's supply-capped scarcity, independent verification, and global transferability to drive long-term demand.
The 21-page guide examines how a market could develop around Bitcoin, featuring equity, credit, debt, derivatives, and money tied to BTC. Saylor noted that Bitcoin is 'an open, global reserve asset with absolute scarcity' and highlighted its monetary properties, investment case, market structure, portfolio role, custody, and risks.
The framework distinguishes between direct BTC ownership and various financial products built around the cryptocurrency, offering different combinations of income, price exposure, and corporate risk to investors. These include bitcoin treasury equity, preferred securities, derivatives, and spot Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs). Strategy's guide acknowledges that each route carries distinct legal and economic outcomes.
Strategy cautions that market demand still determines the value of BTC, despite its fixed issuance schedule, and notes that ownership choices add further risk. The company also emphasizes the importance of custody and risks associated with leverage, fees, corporate risks, or forced liquidation.
