Bitcoin's Price Plunge Attributed to Thin Volume
Bitcoin's price dipped to around $63,000 in late July 2026, causing alarm among traders. However, according to data from Bitget, this move was not a sign of panic selling.
The trading volume during the decline was approximately $25.2 billion, which is relatively low compared to other sell-offs in Bitcoin's history. In contrast, volumes two or three times that size are typical during genuine capitulation events.
About $600 million in positions were liquidated on a single day, with most of them coming from longs. This is a fraction of the multi-billion-dollar liquidation cascades that have historically accompanied real panic selling.
