Bitcoin's Price Rises Nearly 10,000-Fold in 15 Years
Bitcoin's price has risen dramatically over the past 15 years, from $7.97 in September 2011 to nearly $80,000 today.
This represents a gain of roughly 998,000% and an annualized return near 85% over 15 years.
In contrast to its current market structure, Bitcoin's price was actually down about 75% from its June peak in 2011, when it briefly touched $31.91.
This crash occurred just days after a major security breach at Mt. Gox, which forced trades down to one cent on the exchange.
The market capitalization of Bitcoin at that time was around $206 million.
