Bitcoin's Sharpe Ratio Suggests Market May Be Nearing Bottom
Bitcoin's Sharpe ratio has dropped to -23, indicating that the market may no longer be facing endless downside risk. According to crypto analyst Ali Martinez, this level could be an optimal window for spot accumulation.
The Sharpe ratio measures return on investment relative to volatility, and a negative reading suggests periods of severe drawdowns. Martinez says the current -23 reading indicates deep seller exhaustion rather than unlimited downside, creating an 'asymmetric' risk-to-reward entry point for long-term investors.
Historically, similar compressions in the Sharpe ratio coincided with final bear market capitulation phases. On-chain metrics such as MVRV and CVDD still indicate a possible cycle low between $40,000 and $50,000, but Martinez points out that a rare technical setup on Bitcoin's monthly chart has historically appeared near major market bottoms.
