Bitcoin's Short-Term Holder Capitalization Plummets 62% as Market Remains Cautious
Bitcoin's short-term holder realized capitalization has dropped by nearly 62% from its October peak, according to crypto analyst Darkfost. This significant decline reflects typical behavior during market corrections, where extreme capitulation removes UTXOs created at higher prices and continued accumulation creates new UTXOs at lower prices.
The findings also reveal that previous bear markets recorded drawdowns of 70% to 75% in this metric. While the current levels are approaching that range, it remains uncertain whether the market will continue consolidating or enter a final correction phase.
As short-term holders exit, long-term holders are increasingly holding onto realized capital, indicating stronger investor conviction and an advanced accumulation phase. This trend shows that the ratio of Long-Term Holder Realized Cap to Short-Term Holder Realized Cap has climbed to 3.9, close to the level above 4 that previously coincided with major market bottoms.
