Bitcoin's Stall at $63,000 Exposes Weak Buyers Amid Record S&P 500

Bitcoin's recent stall around $63,000 has exposed the weakness of its buyers in the market. This comes as the S&P 500 closed at a record high of 7,798.99 on Thursday, while Bitcoin hovered near $63,347.73.

The divergence between the two markets is notable, with stocks benefiting from a favorable macro backdrop, including unchanged US producer prices and falling yields and oil prices. However, Bitcoin remains pinned near its lower edge, unable to break above $63,000 despite repeated tests over the past month.

According to Glassnode's analysis, $63,000 represents Bitcoin's Median Realized Price, or the midpoint of the market's cost basis. A decisive loss of this level could expose the thinner market structure beneath and increase the risk of an overshoot.

The surrounding levels define the next debate: a sustained reclaim above $68,700 would confirm improvement, while a break below $63,000 could invalidate the developing floor case and raise overshoot risk. Losing $58,500 would approach the broader market's average acquisition cost, making it a major valuation anchor in a deeper drawdown.

Bitcoin is struggling to attract sustained institutional flow, with US spot ETFs recording net outflows of $61.1 million on August 12, following $7.8 million in inflows the previous day. Thin liquidity has turned leverage into a deciding risk factor, creating a mechanical downside path for Bitcoin.
