Bitcoin's Strongest Weekly Gain Since 2023 Raises Questions About Sustainability

Bitcoin's price surged by over 23% in its strongest weekly gain since 2023, while the S&P 500 fell 1.43% and MSCI World declined 1.19%. This comes as a surprise to many, given that open interest, a measure of derivatives positions, fell by 42,907 BTC over the same seven days to 319,896 BTC.

According to CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr., this decline in open interest alongside a price gain suggests that the rally was not driven by new leveraged bets. Adler's methodology explains that a sharply negative seven-day change often indicates leverage contraction and is 'often the most useful reset signal.'

Darkfost, another CryptoQuant analyst, sees Bitcoin's price movement as a sign of an early bull regime. While it is not a perfect signal, Darkfost notes that market conditions have improved significantly.
