Bitcoin's 'This Time Is Different' Narrative Falls Flat Again
The 'this time is different' narrative has returned to the Bitcoin market, but analysts warn that the broader cycle pattern remains intact. Despite claims of new buyers and changing market dynamics, historical data suggests that each subsequent cycle follows a similar trend.
Since mid-August, analysts have been discussing the differences in this cycle, looking for what's changed in the market. However, as the 18-year-old Bitcoin market has shown, every time we've heard 'this time is different,' it's usually about a new type of buyer that will hold the ground and stop the next price crash.
Previous cycles have seen significant drawdowns followed by rallies, but both have been shrinking in magnitude. The current cycle has a shallower drawdown than previous cycles, according to Galaxy Digital's Alex Thorn, who posted a chart indexing the price of Bitcoin to 100 at each cycle high.
