Bitcoin's Unrealized Losses Fall Below 40%, But Recovery Lacks Confirmation
Bitcoin's market conditions have improved, easing pressure on underwater holders and bringing the unrealized loss ratio down to 35.2%, below the historical 40% threshold.
This decline indicates fewer investors hold Bitcoin at a loss, suggesting reduced market stress. However, the indicator rebounded from 30.4% around July 21st, showing selling pressure has not disappeared entirely.
Historical cycles suggest that moves below 40% rarely confirm lasting recoveries, instead often preceding prolonged consolidation or advancement toward the 60% capitulation zone.
Valuation metrics also indicate a broader recovery still requires confirmation. The Mayer-Puell Valuation Composite dropped below 20 on July 2nd and has since rebounded to around 25.4, showing valuation pressure has eased from early July.
On-chain data suggests Bitcoin is gradually emerging from its most stressed phase, with improving unrealized loss metrics and a MVRV Z-score approaching 0.36.
