Bitcoin's Weekly RSI Bullish Divergence Triggers 2022 Comparisons
Bitcoin's recent price action has left traders divided over its trajectory, and technical indicators are offering mixed signals. The weekly relative strength index (RSI) of Bitcoin has reached 58.3, echoing a bullish divergence that occurred in 2022 at the end of the bear market.
The RSI has been making higher highs while the price has made lower lows, a classic sign of a potential trend inflection. This pattern repeated itself in mid-2022 and again this year, according to data from TradingView.
However, not everyone is convinced that the current market trend will continue. Some analysts see the daily RSI readings as a warning sign of an imminent reversal, while others point out that historical uptrends have often been accompanied by multiple 'overbought' periods.
Jamie Coutts, chief crypto analyst at Real Vision, emphasized the importance of looking at weekly signals, which he believes hold more weight in predicting long-term trends. He noted that previous bullish divergences have led to significant price upside.
The stochastic RSI indicator has also printed a key crossover, but it did not reach the same level as previous crossovers, avoiding zero-level bear-market lows. This event may be seen as a cue for a potential bullish trend change.
