Bitdeer Cranks Up Bitcoin Mining Power in Texas Wind Farm Deal
Bitdeer is expanding its Bitcoin mining capacity while other companies are shifting their focus to Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company has partnered with Soluna, a publicly traded firm that operates wind-powered data centers in Texas and Kentucky. Under the deal, Bitdeer will install its own Sealminer A2 Pro Air machines at Soluna's Project Kati 1 in Willacy County, Texas.
The deployment starts in September and ramps up in batches, adding roughly 1.93 EH/s of computing power to Bitdeer's co-mining capacity. This is not a typical hosting contract, as both companies will split the Bitcoin mining proceeds produced by the deployment. Soluna brings the site, electricity, and daily operations, while Bitdeer owns and supplies the mining machines.
Bitdeer has been investing heavily in AI, with plans to build up to 350 MW of AI cloud data center capacity by the first quarter of 2028. The company's recent operational updates revealed that its Bitcoin production numbers belong to customers rather than itself. However, this deal will bolt another roughly 1.93 EH/s onto Bitdeer's co-mining machine.
Meanwhile, Soluna is positioning its other facilities for AI and HPC development, letting it chase the AI buildout without sacrificing Kati 1's existing Bitcoin economics or leaving energized mining infrastructure waiting for another customer.
