Bitdeer Locks In $400M AI Cloud Deal in Malaysia, Signals Shift Away From Bitcoin Mining
Bitdeer Technologies has locked in a major deal worth $400 million for its artificial intelligence (AI) cloud services, marking a significant shift away from its Bitcoin mining roots.
The five-year offtake agreement with a high-credit-quality customer will fill half the capacity of Bitdeer's new 9.5 MW data center in Malaysia, known as A102.
What sets this deal apart is that the customer has prepaid more than 50% of the associated capital expenditures, easing Bitdeer's upfront financial risk and providing a template for other mining-turned-AI companies to follow.
Bitdeer's real target is building out up to 350 MW of AI-ready data center capacity globally by Q1 2028, with the Malaysia deal being just the opening move.
