Bitdeer Unveils $4.7 Billion AI Data Center Expansion in Norway

Bitdeer is expanding beyond Bitcoin mining with a major move into artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC). The company has signed a $4.7 billion, 16-year lease agreement to turn its Norway facility into an AI data center.

The deal will see Bitdeer provide data center space powered by renewable energy for AI computing. The campus will have 121 megawatts of IT capacity and operate using 100% renewable hydropower from Norway.

Bitdeer's Chief Financial Officer, Michael G. Potter, said the agreement is a 'key milestone in Bitdeer’s evolution as a global AI infrastructure platform'.

The project will have two phases, with the first expected to be completed by December 31, 2026, and the second by March 31, 2027.
