Bitfinex Introduces Tokenized Notes for Bitcoin Treasury Companies
Bitfinex Securities has introduced five new tokenized products that allow investors to bet on the economic performance of publicly traded bitcoin treasury companies without directly owning shares.
The notes, issued through ORO (II), a Luxembourg umbrella securitization fund managed by SICOS Securities, track the price movement of Strategy's variable-rate perpetual preferred stock and Metaplanet stock. The underlying shares are held with regulated financial institutions.
Bitfinex Securities claims that this is the first time such products have been available for secondary trading on a regulated tokenized securities exchange. Buying a note gives investors synthetic exposure to how those shares move, rather than direct ownership of Strategy or Metaplanet stock.
The five new products include a Strategy Note (CMSTR), a note tied to Strategy's variable-rate perpetual preferred stock (STRCst), a Metaplanet Note (CMPTL), Sweden's H100 Group (CH100), and France's Capital B (CALCPB). Each note can be traded against the U.S. dollar, USDT or BTC, with a minimum exposure of roughly $1.
The move follows Bitfinex Securities' $50 million tokenized capital raise for metals company Alkemya in August, which has pushed the platform's total listed assets past $500 million.
