BitForex Founder Sees $97M Bitcoin Long Position Turn Profitable After Three Months

Garrett Jin, founder of the defunct cryptocurrency exchange BitForex, has seen his substantial Bitcoin long position turn profitable after three months. According to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, Jin's $97 million Bitcoin position, consisting of 1,268 BTC, has moved into unrealized gains of over $500,000.

This marks a significant turnaround from earlier this year when the same position was underwater by more than $22 million due to market volatility in the first quarter. Despite the adverse price action, Jin held onto the position, and the recent rally in Bitcoin's price has vindicated his decision.

The recovery in Bitcoin's price is attributed to increased institutional adoption, positive regulatory developments, and a broader market uptrend. However, this development raises questions about the source of funds used for such a large position, given the ongoing legal issues surrounding BitForex.
