Bitget CEO Sees Bitcoin Staying Rangebound Through 2026
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen expects Bitcoin to stay within its current trading range for the remainder of 2026. Speaking in an interview, Chen said that while it's difficult to predict whether Bitcoin will end the year above or below $70,000, her base case is that it could finish broadly around current levels.
Chen pointed out that interest rates and macroeconomic conditions have become increasingly important factors for Bitcoin's performance. As the cryptocurrency has grown more closely connected to traditional finance, institutional ownership, exchange-traded products, and corporate holdings have all increased, making monetary policy a key driver of demand.
Higher interest rates can pressure Bitcoin in several ways, increasing the return available from cash and government debt, raising financing costs, and reducing liquidity available for speculative assets. Lower rates, on the other hand, can make non-yielding and higher-risk investments more attractive.
Chen also expressed skepticism that the U.S. government will begin directly purchasing Bitcoin for its national reserve before the end of President Donald Trump's term. While the administration created a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in March 2025 using Bitcoin already forfeited to the federal government, Chen argued that converting this stockpile into an active government purchasing program would represent a much larger policy decision.
