Bitget CEO Warns Altcoin Season Delayed Until 2026 Amid Bitcoin Dominance
Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen has warned that the anticipated altcoin season may be delayed until at least 2026, marking a potential permanent shift in cryptocurrency market dynamics. The forecast reflects deteriorating conditions across alternative digital assets as liquidity and institutional capital increasingly concentrate on Bitcoin.
The concentration of large capital in Bitcoin is due to its relatively stable performance compared to other altcoins. According to Chen, retail investors trading altcoins face a 'terrible risk-reward ratio' after the October 11 event that inflicted severe damage on an already weakened market.
Chen attributed this decline to over a year of decreasing venture capital funding for Web3 projects and low liquidity across centralized exchanges. The current market phase, she described as one of 'doubt,' reflected in the Crypto Fear and Greed Index reading of 30 at press time.
The focus on Bitcoin is evident in its dominance over altcoins, with research firm 10x Research reporting that momentum has decisively shifted toward the leading cryptocurrency. The analysis showed that altcoins underperforming Bitcoin by $800 billion during the current cycle, with retail investors absorbing the losses.
