Bitget Ends Japan Services Amid Regulatory Compliance

Share

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has announced that it will cease services for residents of Japan due to compliance with domestic regulations and related systems. This decision follows a similar trajectory taken by other exchanges, including Bybit, which halted new registrations for Japanese users in October 2025 and eventually withdrew from the market.

Bitget is listed on the Financial Services Agency's (FSA) unregistered operators list, having been issued a warning along with five other companies, including KuCoin, MEXC Global, and Bybit Fintech. The exchange has also had its app removed from Japan's App Store and Google Play Store at the request of the FSA.

The company will provide further guidance on specific procedures regarding asset management in the future, with users able to refer to a dedicated page or contact customer support for more information. Bitget has stated that it plans to implement account restrictions gradually moving forward.
