Bitget Enters Emerging Digital Finance Hub in Bhutan
Bitget is expanding into Bhutan's Mindfulness City by signing a cooperation agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority. The exchange aims to establish a legal entity in the city and apply for a Financial Services Licence from the Gelephu Financial Services Office.
The agreement sets out plans for operational, regulatory, and ecosystem work between Bitget and the authority. Bhutan's financial regime runs under the Financial Services Act 2025, which requires firms carrying out regulated financial or virtual asset activities to hold a licence.
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, views Bhutan as an emerging hotbed for digital finance due to its 'rare mix of long-term thinking, clean-energy advantage and regulatory clarity.' The country has used hydropower to support green cryptocurrency mining, part of a wider push to lift economic growth, create jobs, and retain young talent.
