Bitget Exits Japan Amid Regulatory Tightening
Bitget, an international cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, has announced its decision to exit Japan. This move comes after receiving multiple warnings from the Japanese Financial Services Agency for providing services to residents without proper registration.
The exit follows a pattern set by other platforms like Bybit, which also withdrew from Japan due to regulatory tightening. The Japanese authorities have been cracking down on unlicensed overseas derivatives platforms, pushing users towards local licensed institutions.
This shift in capital has led to a decrease in exposure to high-risk markets as exchanges reduce their presence in such areas.
The Asian crypto compliance landscape is undergoing significant changes, with control shifting from gray operations to mandatory licensing. This transition reflects regulatory changes aimed at compelling overseas platforms to exit voluntarily and redirect resident trading back to regulated systems.
