Bitget Exits Japan Market Amid Regulatory Warnings
Bitget has announced that it will be ending its cryptocurrency services for residents of Japan. The exchange, which offers trading and investment products, has stopped accepting new registrations from Japanese users and has set a timeline to restrict existing accounts later this year.
The restrictions will begin on November 1st, with users who believe they were wrongly classified as Japanese residents required to complete Level 2 identity verification by that date. Accounts that fail to comply will be subject to mandatory restrictions.
Bitget's decision comes after repeated warnings from Japanese regulators over the past few years. The Financial Services Agency first warned the exchange in March 2023 for allegedly offering services without registration, with further warnings issued in November 2024 and June 2025.
