Bitget Expands Into Bhutan With Gelephu Partnership
Bitget, a crypto exchange, has partnered with Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMC) to explore establishing a licensed local operation. This move aims to tap into the country's developing digital asset sector.
The agreement could pave the way for Bitget to establish a legal presence and prepare its application for a relevant financial services license in GMC, an autonomous economic zone backed by Bhutan's national Bitcoin reserves. GMC is designed to create high-value roles in finance, tech, and wellness, with a target value of $100 billion.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the company looks forward to contributing its experience, infrastructure knowledge, and local talent development as this ecosystem grows.
