Bitget Expands into Bhutan with Regulatory Push
Bitget, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMC) in Bhutan to establish a legal presence and pursue a Financial Services Licence.
The agreement aims to develop Gelephu's digital asset ecosystem and position Bhutan as a hub for crypto-related businesses.
Bitget plans to apply for the licence under GMC's regulatory framework, which would enable it to operate a regulated venue for cryptocurrency trading in the region.
GMC has introduced a financial services and virtual asset regime under the Financial Services Act 2025, and Bitget's cooperation is seen as a step towards making Gelephu a major player in the global crypto market.
