Bitget Expands into New Zealand with Financial Services Registration
Bitget, the world's largest Universal Exchange (UEX), has registered as a Financial Services Provider on New Zealand's Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR). The registration covers various financial services categories, including foreign currency exchange, money transfers, client asset custody, and portfolio management. This move is part of Bitget's efforts to expand its range of financial products, including traditional market instruments, foreign exchange services, and tokenized real-world assets.
According to Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget, 'Financial platforms need compliance structures that can support a wider mix of assets and services.' The registration adds another layer to Bitget's international financial services framework as it continues to connect digital assets with established markets. The Universal Exchange model brings together crypto assets, tokenized stocks, commodities, foreign exchange, and other financial products on a single trading platform.
Bitget has also joined the New Zealand Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) Dispute Resolution Scheme, providing an external channel for eligible customers to resolve disputes. The company's registration on the FSPR does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee by the New Zealand Government or the Financial Markets Authority (FMA).
