Bitget Eyes Licensed Crypto Presence in Bhutan's Emerging Digital Hub
Bitget is expanding its global presence by exploring a licensed crypto operation in Bhutan. The exchange has signed an agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority to establish a local foothold, which could lead to obtaining a financial services license.
The city of Gelephu is part of the $100 billion autonomous economic zone called GMC, backed by Bhutan's national Bitcoin reserves. GMC aims to create high-value roles in finance, tech, and wellness.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated, “GMC is the emerging hotbed for digital finance, and Bitget looks forward to contributing exchange experience, infrastructure knowledge and local talent development as this ecosystem grows.”
