Bitget Eyes Local License in Bhutan Amid Expansion Plans
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has made significant strides in its expansion plans, signing an agreement with authorities in Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City.
The move is part of Bitget's efforts to establish a foothold in the country's digital asset industry. According to sources, the exchange will explore the possibility of operating under a local license to secure institutional backing.
Under the agreement, Bitget can set up its operations base in Gelephu Mindfulness City and prepare applications for related financial services licenses. This autonomous economic zone is valued at $100 billion.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that Gelephu Mindfulness City is emerging as a new hub in digital finance, and the exchange aims to contribute to ecosystem growth through its expertise and infrastructure development.
