Bitget Pledges $10 Million To Close Crypto's Gender Gap
The cryptocurrency industry is facing a pressing issue: women hold only 25% of crypto users despite controlling an increasing share of global wealth, according to data from Bitget. The exchange has taken notice and is launching its Crypto Anti-Bias Pledge in honor of International Women's Day.
Bitget is backing the initiative with a $10 million Blockchain4Her program and a partnership with UNICEF, which aims to educate 1.1 million people about blockchain and digital skills by 2027. Approximately 90% of participants are expected to be girls and young women.
The industry's adoption ceiling is limited by excluding half the global population, according to Bitget CEO Gracy Chen. The exchange also reported that female-led blockchain startups receive only 6% of total industry funding, despite research suggesting they generate higher returns per dollar invested.
