Bitget Pursues 'Everything Exchange' Strategy Amid Weaker Crypto Liquidity
Bitget is evolving into a comprehensive financial platform in response to weaker crypto liquidity. According to Chief Executive Gracy Chen, institutional clients increasingly want to trade stocks, commodities, and crypto on one platform.
They also want to use equities as collateral, which Bitget aims to provide. The shift comes as Wall Street deepens its use of blockchains while trading activity remains concentrated in a smaller group of digital assets.
Institutional counterparties generated 72% of Wintermute's over-the-counter spot flow in the first half of 2026. This highlights their growing influence and selectivity, favoring Bitcoin, tokenized stocks, payments, collateral, and real-world assets over broad altcoin speculation.
Bitcoin's one-year annualized volatility fell to 42% in early August, down from 48% a year earlier and 69% in 2022. Bitget is responding with an 'everything exchange' strategy, with about 20% of its average daily volume now coming from non-crypto assets, up from zero a year ago.
