Bitget has signed a cooperation agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority in Bhutan, aiming to establish a local entity and apply for a financial services license.

The partnership will allow Bitget to gain a foothold in the country's emerging digital asset market, which is backed by hydropower resources and considers Bitcoin as a strategic economic resource.

Gelephu Mindfulness City operates as a Special Administrative Region in southern Bhutan, governed by the Financial Services Act 2025. To provide regulated services, companies must obtain authorization from the local regulator.
