Bitget Tackles Crypto's Gender Gap with $10M Blockchain4Her Program
Despite controlling a growing share of global wealth, women hold only around 25% of cryptocurrency users worldwide. This disparity is expected to continue as they are projected to control more than $83 trillion in wealth by 2030.
Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, has taken notice of this issue and is backing the Crypto Anti-Bias Pledge with a $10 million Blockchain4Her program. The pledge aims to address three areas: education and access, equal opportunity, and zero tolerance for workplace harassment.
The Bitget CEO, Gracy Chen, founded the Blockchain4Her initiative and believes that excluding half of the global population limits the industry's adoption ceiling. According to a study by Bitget, female-led blockchain startups receive approximately 6% of total industry funding, despite broader research suggesting they generate higher returns per dollar invested.
The exchange also reported that more than 40% of its senior management positions are held by women. Additionally, the UNICEF partnership, announced previously as part of Blockchain4Her, targets blockchain and digital skills education for 1.1 million people by 2027, with approximately 90% of participants expected to be girls and young women.
