Bitget Wallet Expands Direct Bank Transfer Service in Nigeria
Nigeria's stablecoin market is booming, attracting further expansion from Bitget Wallet. The self-custodial crypto wallet has operated a direct bank transfer feature in Nigeria since November 2025, allowing users to convert USDT or USDC held in the wallet directly into naira deposited into a Nigerian bank account.
This process compresses multiple stages of conversion, including sending stablecoins to an exchange, selling them, and withdrawing the naira, which can be time-consuming and costly. Bitget Wallet's direct transfer service supports USDT and USDC on BNB Chain, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and Base.
Nigeria accounts for approximately 60 per cent of sub-Saharan Africa's stablecoin inflows, according to the IMF. The country has also seen a significant increase in formal remittance data, with inflows through licensed money transfer operators reaching $1.29 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up 45 per cent year on year.
The central bank governor, Olayemi Cardoso, has targeted $1 billion a month by year-end, from a run rate of above $600 million. Bitget Wallet's expansion comes as stablecoins gain a larger role in Nigeria's digital payments and cross-border transaction market.
